1. Who we are

Tape Bird (“Tape Bird,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], located at [ADDRESS]. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Tape Bird mobile app and the tapebird.com website (together, the “Service”).

2. The short version

3. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in to send a tape, we use Sign in with Apple. Depending on your Apple settings, we receive your name and an email address (which may be an Apple private relay address). We store an account identifier to associate your tapes and purchases with you.

Content you create

When you make a tape, we store the content you put into it:

Recipient information you provide

When you prepare a gift, you may enter a recipient’s name to personalize the tape. Tape Bird does not send messages on your behalf — you deliver the gift link yourself through an app you choose (such as Messages or email). We store the recipient name and the gift link so the right person can open the right tape.

Apple Music data

If you connect Apple Music, we access it through Apple’s MusicKit to enable playback and music selection. This may include a music-user token, your subscription status, and the ability to play catalog tracks. See Section 6.

Purchase information

Purchases of tape packs are made as in-app purchases through Apple. Apple processes your payment; we do not receive your full payment-card details. We receive transaction confirmations and entitlement information so we can credit the packs to your account. See Section 7.

Device and usage information

We may collect limited technical information to operate and improve the Service, such as app version, device model and operating-system version, and diagnostic or crash data. [If you use a specific analytics or crash-reporting tool — e.g. Sentry, Apple-only diagnostics — name it here and disclose what it collects.]

4. How we use your information

5. How we share information

We share information only as described here:

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Apple Music

Tape Bird uses Apple’s MusicKit so you can search the Apple Music catalog and so listeners can play music. Full-song playback requires an active Apple Music subscription; without one, playback falls back to 30-second previews. Apple Music is a service of Apple Inc. and your use of it is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Cover art and music metadata are shown only in connection with playback and playlists.

7. Payments

Tape packs are consumable in-app purchases sold through the Apple App Store. Apple handles billing and payment processing. Refunds are managed by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and tape content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We retain certain records (such as purchase/transaction records) for as long as required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information as described in Section 10, except where we are required to keep it.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of the EU/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA), among others, have these rights. To exercise them, contact privacy@tapebird.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

10. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account directly in the app, or request deletion by email. We will delete or anonymize your personal information, subject to records we must retain by law. For step-by-step instructions and details about what is removed, see Delete your account.

11. Children

Tape Bird is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. [Confirm your App Store age rating and adjust this age threshold to match.] If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International users

We operate in [COUNTRY]. If you use the Service from outside [COUNTRY], your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws. We take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
